Selected Cuts: Alex Metric

Ahead of his return this Friday, producer, remixer and overall dance music maestro Alex Metric shares five selected cuts with us.

Ahead of his return this Friday at Egg LDN, London based producer, remixer and overall dance music maestro Alex Metric shares five selected cuts with us, with each choice reflecting his own sound in addition to a plethora of sonic creators he’s currently appreciating.

Described as ‘an artist’s artist’, Metric’s sound pays homage to the noise that soundtracked the earliest dance music scene in the U.S: jackin’ Chicago house, thumping Detroit techno, uplifting disco and funk and even indie rock.

Despite building such a diverse sound within his own creations on top of previous production work with noughties boy band Busted and indie electronic group The Scissor Sisters, Metric remains an esteemed figure in the dance music world, with one of the most colourful track libraries in existence. Sharing a blend of bouncing melodies and bass-laden rhythms from both emerging and established artists - including disco chief Marcus Marr and live techno stalwart KiNK - Metric’s choice cuts are just as scintillating as his discography.

Marcus Marr - So High

Marcus is back with another disco beauty. His stuff always treads an amazing line between sad and uplifting for me, and this is no different. End of night smiles all around.

Alex Metric & Ten Ven - Otic

I tested this for the first time at my last gig at the Egg and it went down a storm. I can't wait to play it again there.

Not released - Check all of Alex's future releases here.

Clean Bandit - Miss You (Naations Remix)

Naations smashed it on this one, a clean bandit song I actually want to play in a club, who'd have thought it.

Hugo Maasien - Ghost Note

Great new track on Dusky's label. Some serious breakbeat business right here.

KiNK - Perth Proper

Filter House sounding stuff that could have come from Crydamoure / Roule years ago. Guaranteed good vibes.
