Ahead of Richie Blacker making his debut appearance at Egg London on Friday 25th March, we asked Richie to run a "Select Cuts" feature with us.  The "Select Cuts" feature is one of our favorite features to run; we get a first sight in seeing what music has influenced the artist through out their career.

In this feature Richie has selected tracks from the likes of Daft Punk, Orbital, Sasha, 808 State & Reflekt.

Richie Blacker - Select Cuts

Daft Punk - Da funk

From the first listen to daft punk’s debut album “Homework” I was hooked. At the age of 11 I was so mesmerized by this mysterious house and techno music I was right there and then obsessed with electronic music. I had never heard anything like it up until that point and I have been on this electronic music quest to learn and find out everything I can about dance music ever since

Orbital – Belfast

This is one of the best tracks ever written and it’s been a sound track for my life.

Sasha – Xpander

I have been listening to Sasha’s old mix tapes that my brothers had in their collection from a young age. I have been following him to gigs since I was old enough to start going to raves. I have been all over Ireland, Uk & Europe to see him play and I have lost count on how many times I have seen him. I felt very proud of myself when I signed to his “Last Night On Earth” label and it was a goal of mine for a long time. So Xpander is a track I hold close to my heart. I still play it in my sets to this day!

808 State - Pacific State

A timeless rave track from a timeless era. It will never get old and it still gives me chills when I hear it. Along with Orbital and Andrew Weatherall. 808 State where pioneers of the 90s rave scene and years ahead of the game.

Reflekt - Need to Feel Loved

This is a track that like most people fell in love with once they heard it. It’s one of my all-time favorite tracks. It still gets me every time I hear it. I made an edit of it recently for a DJ set I did for Anjunadeep. I never intended of trying to get it released as it is such an iconic track and I never, even though I could get it signed. Well out of the blue “Ultra Moda” records reached out and said they had heard it and they loved it. They expressed that they would love to give it an official release. Still can’t believe it’s happening, to be honest. It will be released in April on Ultra Moda Records.
