With huge support from tastemakers such as Kerri Chandler, Black Madonna, Masters At Work, Claude Von Stroke, Joey Negro and Radio 1’s Danny Howard and with high profile shows for Elrow (Barcelona) and Boiler Room at San Fran’s Halcyon, we can’t wait for his debut set this Saturday at the Friends of Pets showcase alongside Catz ‘ N Dogz and Maxxi Soundsystem.

Here he shares his musical Influences with us ahead of this 1st saying… "I'm an artist that is a summation of my experiences along with the people and things that have influenced me. All these guys are a testament to this...

1. ‘Told’ G Dub - Mr. G

Your favourite DJ and/or Producer has Mr. G in their Top 5. I could end it with that sentence alone and just let the YouTube clip do all the talking, but I won't. The reality here is that no other artist in Techno has the degree of soul and drive in their sound when it comes to Techno along with their influence touching nearly everyone and anything having to do with electronic music. Mr. G is THAT guy you need to shut up and listen to indefinitely as his music is timeless. Many a lesson can be learned from his production approach and it’s left an indissoluble mark on my approach to beat making.

2. ‘Where You At?’ - Derrick Carter

I love Derrick for his swinging basslines and versatility. His work is an expressive standout when you listen to how vocals sit in his tracks and when he’s dropping a vocal blend in his DJ sets. Along with the sub bass line swing influence, Derrick knows how to make a drum break through a flanger bounce with intensity as you will hear in this example. This is just an introduction, but I would add that Derrick's poetic lyrics will leave you thinking and coming back for more. An incredible soul that I can only aspire to have a sliver of his imagination.

3. ‘Santero’s Groove’ - DJ Sneak

Sneak is a natural selection here as one of the founding Fathers of modern day Chicago House / Jackin' / Funky House. Whatever you want to call it, you can never have the discussion on any of these genres without giving Sneak a mention. I enjoy Sneak's records because of their heavy sample base and effective use of latin percussion that is sometimes obvious or subtle. Everybody talks about "You Can't Hide Your Bud", but I've been hammering this rediscovered gem from 2008 that highlights all of things I mentioned. Again, timeless music you can play today.

4. ‘Alumna’ - DJ Smilk

Hailing from Columbia, DJ Smilk's sound introduced me to proper Tech House with an obvious soul element that I gravitate towards. His sound is also dark with the latin percussive swing always evident in his production that I can relate to given my own Caribbean roots.

5. ‘Tooler’ - Macromism

Deep, lush, and dark sounds from this duo made specifically for warehouses, peak festival hysteria, and the type of low ceiling after hour parties where the walls are sweating. I love everything about these beats when we talk about proper tech based beats. The low subs are sublime and yet the kicks clearly cut through as they're meshed against quirky sounds that groove. So much powerful lesson in beat aesthetics here that I'm so grateful to have discovered.
