Pleasurekraft Top Ten

The techno tracks that will be lighting up Pleasurekraft's set at Sabajaq this Saturday

Pleasurekraft are a bit of enigma (just check their official bio). A studio pairing of two who become one behind the decks, they were helped in their ascent to fame by the hefty backing of Green Velvet, whose 'Satisfy' they whipped into a club beast alongside Tiger Stripes.

Now, as well as running their own Kraftek label, their tracks are being snapped up by the likes of Noir, Mood and, most recently, Drumcode. The latter of these is referenced, with trademark humour, in the top ten Pleasurekrafy supplied to us before their appearance at Sabajaq this Saturday October 22nd.

Joined by Jay Lumen, who is launching his new album 'Lost Tales' (listen to it accompanied by our track by track here), Loco & Jam and more, you can get full info on the party and tickets here.

1. Pleasurekraft - 'Rigel' [Drumcode]

My personal favourite track we have ever made - it will be on our forthcoming Drumcode EP out in late January 2017. It is our feeble attempt at harnessing the total power of the cosmos into an audible eight minute piece of music. Pretentious? Absolutely! Why else would we put our own track at no.1 on this list?!

2. Manic Brothers - 'Space Dust' [Alleanza]

Our boys from Sweden - these techno twins really struck gold here on Jewel Kid's Alleanza imprint. Really fun techno record I've been playing a lot lately.

3. Clio - 'Numero 10' [Kraftek]

The title track from the next EP on our label Kraftek. If you don't know who Clio is you better go do your homework. His last full EP was on Adam Beyer's Truesoul imprint - he is that rare tech house artist that still manages to have a distinct signature sound to his work - unlike 98% of the run-of-the-mill crap you see up and down the tech house charts these days. Can't wait for this record to be out first week of November!

4. Weska - 'Say To Me' [Octopus]

One of my absolute favourite up and coming techno producers, a young kid from Toronto whose music always manages to find its way into every set I play. This was a track off his last EP on Octopus. You know you're onto something when you're a new act and much bigger established artists (I won't name names) are completely ripping off entire chunks of your grooves for their own records. I guess that's one form of flattery anyway!

05 Blackbill - '01-1' [BLCKBLL]

Chunky, heavy, and dark. This record is like getting punched in the face with a velvet hammer. Incredible stuff.

6. Kaiserdisco - 'SQ 80 (Pleasurekraft Remix)' [Drumcode]

I told you Pleasurekraft was pretentious as fuck! Two of their own records on this list?! Our remix for an older Kaiserdisco record that we wanted to make a more techno version of, so we did and it will see release next week on Drumcode!

7. Skream - 'Minor Smooth' [Crosstown Rebels]

Upcoming b-side to Skream's new EP on Crosstown Rebels. After a few hours of bangin' techno it's nice to have a record like this to lift everyone to greener pastures where we all collectively exhale and think 'It's all gonna be OK'.

8. Jeremy Olander - 'Panorama' [Suara]

One of the nicest guys you will meet in the dance industry (trust me, I would not say that about a lot of people), this record I feel like is a part of who Jeremy is. A melodic techno journey (or REAL progressive house, whichever you prefer), immaculately produced, and does just as well on the dance floor as it does laying on your couch getting lit off some Amnesia Haze.

9. Bastinov - 'Space Programmer' [Erturia]

I love techno that has a raw and heavy backbone, with melodic overtones that keep a song actually musical and not just rhythmic. This track is a perfect example. Really lovely stuff.

10. John Creamer & Stephane K - 'Ah Whey (Dosem Remix)' [Stereo]

Nice to see old school veterans John Creamer & Stephane K back in action - their full EP on Chus & Ceballos' Stereo imprint is excellent with some great remixes. However, it's the Dosem one I'll focus on here, especially because it's a side of Dosem we rarely see, getting deep and melodic.
