Mix of the Week: Marquis Hawkes

The previously anonymous producer and DJ step up with a mighty selection of Chicago flavoured house

Heating up your run in to the weekend, our new Mix of the Week selection scours the internet to find you the hottest new online mixes.

The anonymous Marquis Hawkes launched his gritty Chicago sound into the world in 2012 thanks to his Nina Simone sampling ‘Cabrini Green’ EP on Glasgow’s Dixon Avenue Basement Jams. Since then he’s spread his sound far and wide, taking in Houndstooth, Clone, Creme Organisation and mostly recently Will Saul’s Aus. It’s the latter for whom he’s recorded this jacking selection, which takes in ghetto house alongside sweeter, piano-led sounds.
