On November 13th, the superstars that are Tough Love take their label “Get Twisted” to Egg London; with Danny Howard and AS I AM. Tough Love have rapidly risen through the ranks of the house scene since first crossing paths playing the London circuit. Their distinct, recognisable productions together with energetic and bass-heavy DJ sets have created a cult following of hardcore fans across the UK and beyond. Favourites on Radio 1, London's Kiss, Capital & Rinse FM, their productions have been regularly supported by Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Danny Howard, B-Traits, MistaJam, Target and many more. They’ve gained industry respect from DJs such as Duke Dumont, Solomun, Kenny Dope and Roger Sanchez. While features have come thick and fast from the likes of i-D, DJ Mag, Mixmag, & Data Transmission, not forgetting their own imprint Get Twisted Records. As one of the most high profile DJs in the country today, you can’t deny that the Danny Howard story has been nothing short of monumental. With 1.8 million people now tuning in to his Dance Anthems show on BBC Radio 1 every weekend, as well as show-stopping sets at Global Gathering, Creamfields, not to mention a weekly residency at Pacha in Ibiza and regular spots on the line ups of Amnesia, Privilege, Sankeys and Space. 2015 has seen his UK-focused Nothing Else Matters brand explode to the forefront of dance music with its first ever UK tour that took in 14 dates across the country. There’s no doubt that this is only the beginning, and as the whole world watches on, the Danny Howard story continues to unfold. Growing up in South East London, Jon O’Leary – now best known under his As I Am alias – began his musical education at a young age with the guidance of his bass player father, listening to 80s disco and mixing cassettes at his grandfather’s house. In 2002 along with a couple of friends he started underground radio station Select UK Radio. Now with one million unique users it is one of the longest-running underground stations, focusing on house music across the board. As a producer he creates tracks that have big baselines and a distinctive club feel, a category into which As I Am’s debut release on Defected Records ‘Saving Grace’ absolutely belongs.
