Sunday 13th November 2016

13:00 - 20:00

Sunday brunch in the capital welcomes a new entertaining arts-fuelled edition with the launch of ‘Abstrakt’ on November 13th which is also the world premier of former Soul II Soul & The Shamen diva, ‘Victoria Wilson James, launch of her sparkling One Woman show ‘Perseverance’. Taking inspiration from New York’s Manhattan legendary brunch show bars/ eateries, Abstrakt is a celebration of the arts in its broadest sense, with an electic music, live performances, film and video shorts and in-house pop artists Marty Thornton and Jennifer English installed at their easels creating. Hosted at Egg London’s Apothecary Room and garden, its the perfect way to round off the weekend.

Abstrakts central focus will be around the show-stopping performance of US native but adopted Londoner, Victoria Wilson James’ debut of her One Woman show ‘Perseverance’ - her journey through the music and theatre industry. Flanked by incredible Live performances from some of the capital’s more left field cabaret artistes, in house pop artists Marty Thornton and Jennifer English at work with DJ Dorothea serving up a smorgasbord sound track of pop, show music, blues, old school disco n’ funk and even the odd urban choice, all served whilst enjoying the latest ‘Chicken & Waffles’ inspired brunch menu with vegetarian and vegan choices. Brace yourself for an unforgettable afternoon!

Glamazon’ Victoria Wilson James weaves together a sometimes poignant, often humorous and ultimately honest exploration of her travails throughout her recording career. Taken from the title of her debut solo album, ‘Perseverance’ traverses her early years in the midwest heartland of the USA, right through to Europe by way of Hollywood and examines the not so pretty aspects of living life within the Theatre de l’absurd aka the music industry. Directed and co-produced by Omar Okai (Okai Collier Company), it’s a high octane emotional roller-coaster ride and personal tour de force, all set to the songs of Victoria’s expansive recordings catalogue that includes Soul II Soul and The Shamen, but with laugh out loud truths such as ‘Be careful what you wish for – you might get it!’

Enjoy a cocktail or two with optional classic NYC-style brunch as you soak up Abstrakt’s ‘salon’ style arts, chatter and partying, all stitched together in a seamless and unconventional way at Egg London’s intimate Apothecary Room and garden. London pop artists Marty Thornton and Jennifer English will also showcase a collection of their works for sale a la ‘The Art Car Boot Sale’ and they will be painting attendees and giving away some of the pieces.
