Under The Radar: AC Slater

Ahead of this Friday's UKF presents: Night Bass LDN Showcase label boss shares his hotly tipped ones to watch...

Night Bass recently took to their Facebook page to share the news of an upcoming EP from the label leader himself. Fusing the most infectious elements of house music with the dirty basslines of UK garage and sprinkles of old-school rave synths and breaks, AC Slater developed a huge following over his career with his signature "Night Bass" sound and this Friday, May 31st catch him and his crew making their debut at Egg LDN.

Having grown Night Bass into a hugely respected record label, party and global brand known to be a breeding ground for like-minded producers from around the world who are pioneering a new wave of bass-heavy dance music. Starting out as a monthly residency at LA’s Sound Nightclub, Night Bass tours all over the world and headlines festival stages, with AC bringing his carefully curated line-ups that this Friday includes Distinkt, Corrupt and Shift K3Y, Taiki Nulight, Jay Robinson, Riddim Commission and Phlegmatic Dogs. With his recent ‘Free Your Soul’ EP still rocking the floor, here AC shares his hotly tipped ones to watch.

NuBass

I discovered London’s NuBass through our Night Bass website contact form. How old school? He used to send me tunes through there and one of them, “Degenerate” really caught my attention so I put it on our first edition of “Night Bass Freshmen”. Since then we’ve stayed in touch, he’s released a full EP on Night Bass and his production gets better with every song. NuBass is definitely a future heavy hitter.

Blossom

I’ve known Blossom for years, she always opened our Night Bass events when we had them in her home state of Arizona. However, over the years her production skills have been skyrocketing and she’s landed her own EP on Night Bass as well as several gigs outside of Arizona. I’ve been hearing some new stuff.

Shdws

I’ve known Shdws for quite some time from playing shows in San Francisco over the years. I didn’t really get a feel for his production until Jack Beats slipped me one of his songs “Drop n Dip”, and it was really good. At the time he was working under a different name. He changed the project name, I signed “Drop n Dip” to one of our “This is Night Bass” compilations and picked up his first EP titled “Dark Side”, a massive first release. Big things are definitely coming from this talented producer.

Steady Rock

Steady Rock is a part of a bigger movement of young house producers coming out of Los Angeles area. He caught my attention with his production over the past year or so, but I really saw how dope he was when I had him come play Night Bass in February of this year and he completely demolished the club. Check out his remix of my new single “Final Fantasy”.

Kendoll

Kendoll, caught my attention when Petey Clicks started sending me her productions. Her unique often dark and twisted style stands out amongst a lot of the same old same old. Was really stoked to get her on Night Bass and push out her music to the world. On top of all her skills, she’s one of the funniest people around.
