James Zabiela is a name that needs no introduction. A pioneer in taking electronic music to a new level and consistently breaking the boundaries of sound, the British producer returns this Saturday, 2nd February to grace the decks and carry out a thorough work out on KV2 sound system. Ahead of the night, James dug through his record bag to share five of his favourite current tracks with us…

Hugo Massien ‘Mystery Muzik’ (Keysound)

This is apparently from a collection of older unreleased tracks so I’m glad this one sees the light of day as it’s an electro bass monster. A little reminiscent of that old Chicken Lips anthem ‘He Not In’.

 Cousin ‘Take 1’ (Famly)

This gets released this week so if you’re into your proper wonky bass groovers go and pick this up.

Paul Woolford ‘You Already Know’

Another vocal anthem from the master, not much more I can say about this. Just massive.

Avision ‘What You Wanted’ (On Edge Society)

A heavy but deep jacking snare groove. Hard to stand still to this one, it has an old Shed / Wax vibe about it.

Mall Grab ‘Get Impetuous’ (Looking For Trouble)

A well rude and raw breakbeat track with what sounds like sounds like a Mohamed Ali sample. My style is impetuous!
