Selected Cuts: Dave DK
German producer shares five tracks with us which emulate his current sonic mood...
Dave DK is a Berlin-based producer who’s been in the throes of the German electronic scene since the early 90’s. As a naturally open-minded and adventurous individual both personally and behind the decks, DK’s sound combines pummelling rhythms with a touch of melancholia, earning him gradually, well-deserved recognition on the global dance music spectrum.
With a solid touring agenda covering U.S. and Europe already under his belt in addition to a slew of positively received releases spanning Moodmusic, Pampa and lots more, it’s safe to say Dave DK is well and truly following a steady upward trajectory to a long-lasting career in the electronic music industry.
Ahead of his set at the club for DJ Mag Sessions Pres. Sight alongside Christian Löffler and Anna Tur on 19th May, German producer shares five tracks with us which emulate his current sonic mood…
DJ Koze - Nein König Nein
Besides his stunning album release, this B-side from Kosi’s first 12“ this year is a timeless atmospheric house tune that came out in many of my last sets.
I love the percussive drums and the happy melancholic theme that matches perfectly with the cut-up vocal.
Sharkachi & Stranéus - Hessingen
This is a track I found on their album that came out recently. Big summer open-air tune for afternoon ecstasy!
Sinfol - Trembling ( Efdemin Remix)
Efdemin’s take on the Trembling track turns it into a hypnotic extravaganza for prime times.
Mike Dehnert - Brennweite
The new Fachwerk 12“ features Brennweite, a dark massive bassline modulated over almost 9 minutes. Reminds me on his contribution to the Hart & Tief split series.
Ryan James Ford - Ken’s Defekt
The track is in my record case already since last fall. I like the industrial-meets-melancholy-feel..reminds me on early Aphex Twin works.
