Selected Cuts: Bella Sarris
Allowing an insight into her robust sonic library, Sarris has shared five selected cuts with us ahead of her Egg LDN debut for Familia this Saturday…
It’s rare to find artists in today’s electronic soundscape who are making a living solely on DJing. Except in the case of Bella Sarris. The Berlin-based artist is first and foremost a selector, illustrating her own take on sound through a combination of sensual mixing and a thorough track selection, suitable for a festival main stage or intimate, murky basement.
The social media platforms she uses are simply a tool to show where she’s playing next and what sounds are on her radar - arguably another rarity in 2018’s world of relentless marketing of dance music online. Sarris is all about solid tunes - be it slamming techno or deeper, spine-tingling melodies - and has been part of an upward trajectory since her ENTER residency back in 2014, taking her to legendary institutions like Tel Aviv’s The Block and Berlin’s iconic Berghain.
Affirming her reputation as an artist with a fiercely tuned ear with an uncompromising approach to mixing, a set with Sarris is a truly captivating experience, taking us through from older underground classics to more recent productions from emerging talent. Oshana - Me En U (Yoyaku)
She just keeps getting better and better. A perfect combo of her ghetto groove with some breaks moments and retro synth melodies.
K. Alexi Shelby - All For Lee-sah (Transmat)
So happy they repressed this. Every track is dope and I play them all.
Mark Broom - Two (Token)
One of my fav Mark Broom records on Token. Chic rolling grooves.
Robin Ordell - A1_T1381 - (Finest Hour)
I actually heard this new one in Hoppetosse the other day while I was standing next to Robin. Had no idea it was his until I freaked and he told me.
Sehr gut. Function - F1 (A-TON)
His first Synewave classic, re-released on A-TON. Crispy classy techno.
