It's nearly here! The Egg Birthday weekend is upon us and we've got a vast array of internation superstars ready to go. Ahead of his headline performance on Saturday night, Green Velvet aka Cajmere sat down with The Sun to chat about his different aliases, what him and Carl Craig have been up to and what lies ahead.

"CURTIS Jones is one of Chicago's finest house and techno talents.

Known on the dance floor as Green Velvet or Cajmere depending on his mood, his work under both aliases has produced some of dance music's most memorable moments over the last two decades whether it be with the eccentric twisted vocal techno of Green Velvet or the infectious house grooves of Cajmere.

He has moved up through the gears recently having completed a tour with Planet E head honcho and fellow legend Carl Craig across the US, a tour which came off the back of releasing an album together at the end of March.

As the tour wrapped up last weekend in Chicago we caught up with him to find out more as he heads to the capital this weekend.

''Carl and I have been doing a lot of joint ventures lately and we recently collaborated on the Unity album in which we had some really fun back to back sessions on the road too''.

The 7 track album caught critical acclaim even though the release was fairly low key and it set the benchmark for the tour which quickly followed and it's clear that the collaboration between the two is something we will see more of. He told us:

''Me and Carl will continue to work on interesting projects in the future, especially with the momentum we have just gained'.

The tour recently wrapped up in his hometown of Chicago where they performed to a sell out audience on his birthday on April 26th.

Curtis' Green Velvet and Cajmere personas come into play very organically and the balance between the two is something the electronic artist finds easy to manage and revels in as much as he does with his collaborations, he says:

''I do what I feel is right for the situation before me. When I'm in the studio and what I'm creating resembles house I use Cajmere, but if its techno it will always be Green Velvet. I love to DJ and produce as Green Velvet and Cajmere equally and that will never change.''

This Saturday sees him touch down at the capital's infamous Egg this taking on his Green Velvet persona alongside Nick Curly and Dimitri from Paris.

The club are celebrating their 12th birthday on Saturday and it's clear that this is one party he's pretty excited about. He told us:

''Egg is a really fun place to play, it really offers me the memories of the warehouse spaces you used to get back in the 90's with a really pin point soundsystem.

I love London, it has always been very welcoming and very supportive of my career over the years, even since the early 90s''.

Not one to rest on his laurels, we can expect further productions leading into the summer with various collaborations projects on the way.

''I have a fresh collaboration with Weiss ready called Forbidden Fruit coming out soon. I also have new works with Sonny Fodera under my Cajmere alias. I'll also be going into the studio with Hot Since 82, Dusky, Monika Kruse, Nicole Moudaber and Eats Everything'.

With summer quickly approaching we can expect these tracks to hit the heights on the White Isle of Ibiza with Green Velvet and Cajmere spinning there throughout the season."
