International Women's Day

Download cover of Mike Dunn's 'So Let It Be Houze!’ and support global gender equality

As today is International Women's Day, we want to celebrate some of the talented women Egg London has worked with who are changing the face of dance music.

Nina Kraviz, Nicole Moudaber, Monika Kruse, Anja Schneider, Kate Simko, Just Her, Kim Ann Foxman and Sam Divine are just some of the female electronic artists who have rocked the club, while Ms. Dynamite, Nora En Pure and Tania Vulcano are amongst those playing in the next few months. They're all proof that while electronic music is still largely dominated by men, and is an industry that has faced plenty of recent accusations of sexism, there are more and more women proving their undoubted skill and imagination behind the decks or in the studio.

This time last year an all female group of artists - A.M.O.R., Nightwave, Nancy Whang, Mamacita, and Coco Solid - released a cover of Underground Resistance's aspirational techno classic 'Transition' to mark International Women's Day, with the track going on to become a viral hit.

This year Violet, who is one half of A.M.O.R. and recently produced the soundtrack to the Atelier Versace SS16 show, and London-based producer Elles (previously part of Legendary Children), have recruited another all-female line-up, featuring A.M.O.R., Alinka, Coco Solid, Debonair and Nightwave, to cover Mike Dunn's 1988 Chicago jacker 'So Let It Be Houze!' Testament to the depth of exceptional women working in electronic music, it's a near perfect re-make of one of house music's rawest and earliest anthems.

Listen to the track below and download it from BandCamp. All donations from downloads go to Equality Now, an NGO that is fighting for gender equality around the globe. With recent news stories highlighting the disparity in pay between women and men doing similar jobs, and even of higher prices for women's beauty products compared to similar ones for men, your contribution will go towards creating a more equal society for all.
