Influences: Jobe

Chapter 24 affiliate, Jobe shares a handful of tracks to get us in the mood for what’s in store this Saturday, 30th June…

Focusing on the art of telling a story through sound, Chapter 24 Records have become an illustrious imprint to branch out from London’s electronic scene. Comprised of London based producers who fit the vision of the imprint, label regular JOBE and recent signing Olderic join us on 30th June to host a Chapter 24 showcase in the intimate environs of our Basement.

Ahead of the occasion, Chapter 24 affiliate Simon Jobe shares a handful of tracks which touch on classic house, emotive melodies, earthy percussion and generally sublime productions to get us in the mood for what’s in store…

Pyramid Lake - Unravel

Such classy production, beautiful chords, great percussion and the bassline is catchy as hell.

Mother of Mars - Hera in the Valley (Original Mix)

Love tunes like this, 10-minute builder, constantly evolving, proper journey track, great for after hours.  It's epic.

Skinnerbox - Gender (Axel Boman Remix)

Axel, the man who does no wrong.  He's got a talent for making timeless tunes, this is really beautiful. Love everything about it. He's got a low pass filter on just about every element and occasionally lets the high end shine through, to great effect. Immense vibes.

Detache - I Will Follow You (Area Forty_One Remix)

That kick and sub... Incredible work on the synths too, brooding and complex. Love the analogue warmth on this one too.

The Sonic Emporium - What Do You Think You Saw (Original Mix)

First heard this on an Ivan Smagghe mix for Ransom Note, immense builder.  Sounds like a chilled tune at first, but if you crank it, it's huge.

Maribou State - Turnmills (Club Mix)

Classy production on this one too, as expected from Maribou State, it's just a lovely tune.  Hypnotic and melodic, just how I like it.  Beautiful use of vocals too.

Mr. Fingers - Inner Acid (Original Mix)

Another hypnotic bomb, although a lot deeper this time.  That looping synth just grabs you and keeps you locked in for the entire tune.  This is my type of after-hours track.

T.M.A - Schwaermer (Aaron Ahrends Remix)

Feeling this one by Aaron Ahrends, great remix, lovely vibes.  Another great use of vocals.

Boards Of Canada - Roygbiv (Original Mix)

Think this is my favourite BOC tune, I'd give anything to watch them at work.  Such incredible production. That bassline…

Kassem Mosse - Untitled  (workshop 12) (A1)

I first heard this on an old Nastia mix, it was on her Soundcloud for a short time before disappearing forever, full of really deep weapons, this was one of the standout tunes.  This is about as deep as it gets, 13 minutes of looping vocals, wonky keys and dark, brooding pads.  I love everything Kassem Mosse touches.
