Influences: Distinkt

Night Bass affiliate shares 5 tracks that shaped him ahead of tonight's UKF presents: Night Bass LDN: AC Slater, Distinkt, Shift K3y and More...

Blowing up originally with his 2017 standout track ‘Chinatown’ and followup ‘Slim Shady’, which have racked up over 2 million cumulative plays on SoundCloud, Brighton’s Distinkt enjoys a well-deserved reputation within the UK Bass scene.

With heavy-hitting supporters including Holy Goof, My Nu Leng and Rudimental, who asked Distinkt to produce an official remix of their track ‘Sun Comes Up’, Distinkt released his ‘Brands’ EP on Chris Lorenzo’s Bass Mentality imprint, and he joins the line up of AC Slater’s Night Bass party this Friday, May 31st at Egg LDN alongside Corrupt, Shift K3Y, Taiki Nulight, Jay Robinson, Riddim Commission and Phlegmatic Dogs. Here he shares five tracks that shaped him.

‘Bring’ - Randomer

This tune is one of my favourite productions and it taught me that less is more.. choosing the right sounds to use in a song is so important especially when you are using only a few layers.

’Pulse J VIP’ - Jook

Another one of my favourite tunes.. the subby/crunchy mixdown and general vibe of the whole track really inspired my style.

‘J.A.W.S’ - Lxury When

I was a teenager I used to go out to nights in Brighton with a fake ID and I would hear this song.. it triggered some kind of magical chemical reaction in my body and brain and I literally I fell in love... nostalgic.

‘Dreams’ - Cause & Affect

Pulsey/repetitive banger with so much f**king flavour and style...

Julio Bashmore - ‘Battle For Middle You’

One of the most nostalgic songs for me…it brings a lot of emotions and memories to the surface from special moments in my life...

‘Far Nearer’ - Jamie XX

The soundtrack to a very special part of my life which I will never forget..
