FIVE ESSENTIAL THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT JAN BLOMQVIST

Jan Blomqvist is a rare artist who manages to combine live orchestral sounds with electronic music. As a previous bandleader of the group ‘Blomqvist’, Jan is known for his signature sound of dreamy vocals, simple beats and atmospheric rifts, and is set to bring this to life with his live band on the night. With an ability to turn melancholy into electricity through sound, Jan’s Egg debut with his live band will certainly bring a different feel and energy to the club this Saturday.

Ahead of the night, Jan shares fives of essential things with us about who is a person both on and off stage…

Philosophy:

The aim of my art is to make people laugh, dance cry at the same time. I trigger them with melancholic melodies, and then bring them back to a smile; the music becomes danceable with basses and kick drums.

Essential Gear: My Moog little Phatty and the Prophet6 were two synths that were absolutely vital to the creation of my recent album ‘Disconnected’.

Live Set Up:

When playing live, the equipment in my set up is vast. I use analogue pre-amps and compressors to have a strong ground signal for my vocals. This signal then goes through my digital effects, which are then used with my UAD Apollo Twin sound card. From there it goes to another sound card to mix it in the final mastering computer.

Family:

A year and a half ago, I had my first child. My son sees the world from a different perspective and allows me to the same.

Hobbies & Interests:

Outside of music, I love to cook. I love experimenting with recipes that don’t include meat or dairy. I’m also a massive football fan but I’d even go as far to say it’s an ‘obsession’ of mine.
