Amsterdam's Finest by Bart Skils

As one of the finest exports from Holland’s techno realm, Bart Skils has built a name for himself thanks to a discography of scintillating, bass-driven cuts. With releases on Drumcode, Filth on Acid, Doppelgaenger and many more, Skils has been following a steady rise to international recognition since breaking through on Adam Beyer’s renowned imprint. 

Currently in the midst of a heaving schedule with shows at Drumcode Festival, Watergate, Exchange LA and Gashouder amongst others, the Dutch producer returns on September 8th for Familia with Paul Ritch and Stiv Hey to soundtrack Familia’s Middle Floor. 

Ahead of the night, Skils shares 5 of his favourite electronic artists from his hometown of Amsterdam who’ve made a solid impact on his music taste and library… 

Joris Voorn - Mpx309 

The more techno side of Joris. Joris and I know each other since the early 2000s and this is one of my favourite dance floor killers from him.  

2000 and One - Tropical Melons 

Dylan aka 2000 and One was my neighbour around the time this track was made in 2006. The big festival track that I played all summer! 

Rejected - Let's Go Juno (Bart Skils & Anton Pieete Remix) 

This is a track I did with my friend Anton Pieete. We made a lot of music together and this is one of my favourites using the classic Juno 106 synthesizer into a massive break meltdown. 

Secret Cinema - Timeless Altitude 

Jeroen aka Secret Cinema is actually from Rotterdam but moved to Amsterdam a few years ago. He made loads of timeless classics but this one remains one of my all time favourites. 

Steve Rachmad aka Ignacio - Chios 

Steve used to have his studio at the legendary Mazzo club where I had my Thursday residency at the end of the 90s. Before the club nights, he always previewed us his new material so it could be tested in the club the same night.
