Selected Cuts: Detlef

Always in top form with his infectious energy fuelled by a love and passion for producing and mixing electronic music, Greek native Alex Georgiadis aka Detlef has soared into the electronic world and dutifully earned the status as a knowledgeable selector and innovative producer in the last few years.

Making his mark on UK soil once again, Detlef returns to Egg LDN with his trusty B2B accomplice Latmun for a Main Room takeover of chunky-house and uplifting techno this Friday. Sharing a whopping fifteen selected cuts with us ahead of the gig, Georgiadis looks back at a variety of tracks which touch on fond memories of London, his current favourite tunes to play on any given dance floor and an array of sounds from emerging artists considered ‘ones to watch’ in the electronic industry.

Top 5 favourite tracks to play at the moment:

Rydim vs DJ Funk - Ghetto Booty (Jesse Perez’s Cutler Ridge Booτy mix)

I really love Jesse’s grooves in general and he kept his style in this remix which is straight fire!

The Deepshakerz - What To Want To Get (Original Mix)

Great track with a happy vibe and some tribal beats that could get anyone moving in a club.

Valentino Khan & Sean Paul - Gold (Detlef Dub mix)

This is my latest remix for Valentino & Sean Paul and I got really excited when I played for the first time because when people heard the break with Sean Paul’s vocals I got an amazing reaction.

Nasser Baker - Pause (Original Mix)

This is a promo I received recently and it's a wicked track. really strong beats but an awesome groove with a dubby bassline and wicked and smart breakdowns.

Prok & Fitch - Why

This is an amazing track from Prok & Fitch. The vocals are sick and the groove is energetic. Its one of those tracks that get's the party going.

Top 5 records from up & coming artists:

Pirupa - Party Non Stop (Shaf Huse Remix)

I really love Shaf Huse’s beats and basslines. Its something really fresh and different from the rest but his music works so nicely in every set. this one is one of my favorite works he is done so far. The way he is building up the track and the selection of vocals and effects is just brilliant.

Tennan - Dundende

Awesome track with a serious bassline, heavy beats, short vocal snippets, with clever breakdowns that keeps everyone going.

Jerome Withers - Strong

The track has a wicked and strong bassline with simple beats and a vocal which works great. Simple but really good.

Dan Black - Trippy Fiction (Original Mix)

This is such a great track which I often play at the beginning of my sets. Sets up the mood nicely and makes everyone move.

Powda - Feel The Groove

This new project is a new start from a producer well known in the music industry

It was about that era when I visited London for the first time and this song was big so it brings me London memories.

Pete Heller - Big Love

I remember I found this record in a shop in London during one of my visits. I had to have this record! Great memories of this song.

Green Velvet - Bigger Than Prince (Hot Since 82 Remix)

I heard this track for the first time in a gig we did with Steve Lawler in London. He played this tune and I was blown away. A brilliant track that brings me awesome party memories.

Soul Central - Strings Of Life (Danny Krivit Re-Edit)

I closed one of my gigs in London with this song and it got really messy. I still remember how excited people got. Happy memories of an amazing track.

Such an incredible bassline in this track. I played this in an open-air club in London and the place went crazy! It's an old track but still sounds amazing.
