OC & Verde: Four To The Floor

Northern duo display a taste from old school Chicago house to German electro-techno ahead of their Egg debut this Friday

OC & Verde, aka Ben O’Connor & Jon Verde, first exploded with the 2015 crossover smash 'That’s Right' under the moniker Sick Elektrik, a sassy house hit caned by the likes of Steve Lawler.

Having since changed name and direction towards a more progressive sound, last year saw them build on their momentum with a string of hits: ‘Symphony’ on Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound label and the much hyped ‘Maasai’, a Pete Tong Essential New Tune and Beatport Top 10 hit for several weeks. Tong then finished 2016 with the world premiere of their newest apparition 'Phantom', a huge, trancey monster out this year on Suara.

Making their Egg debut for Egg Presents this Friday 13th January alongside K&K and GW Harrison (full info and tickets here), we spoke to the North-West of England duo to find out their essential four to send dancers to the floor...

Sven Väth vs. Anthony Rother – 'Komm'

"Can’t remember the year I heard this for the first time but it was at Amnesia Ibiza for Cocoon. Sven Vath dropped it and when the German vocal on it came in it twisted my melon! A mind-bending track, I've been playing it ever since. This rascal always catches people off guard, but they go with it!" - OC

Felix Kröcher - 'Provident (Victor Ruiz Remix)'

“I've been hammering this every set since we got hold of it, one of the best tracks of last year; trancey elements on the breakdown and goes off on the drop! Serious tune.” - Verde

Matador – 'Kingswing'

“This track never gets old, always a go to for us when we want to shake things up a bit mid-set. It's never let us down. Saw Matador play this at Elrow at space last summer too, it caused absolute pandemonium!” - OC

TC Crew - 'I Can't Do It Alone (Tyree's Mix)'

“Love this track, quality old school deep house. It's not something we always get chance to play in the club, but it's a brilliant after party track, it always keeps people on the floor. We finished our set at Cafe Mambo Ibiza with this last summer for the Knee Deep In Sound Pacha Pre Party and it went down a treat” - Verde
