Mark Knight’s Ones To Watch

Electronic music is an exciting place to be in right now. With a plethora of emerging artists steadily paving their way into a highly competitive industry to follow their dreams but also make a living, the scene is rich with new talents who are willing to work hard and stand out amongst the masses. As an artist who's been around for almost a decade and founder of the prolific Toolroom Records, Mark Knight has taken on the task to narrow down his 'Ones to Watch' to five highly skilled, boundless artists breaking through right now. From the young David Jackson to the more familiar Glaswegian duo Illyus & Barrientos, here's who we should be watching in 2018...

Kured  Two guys from Germany who first burst onto the scene last year with their record ‘Liquid Soul’ which turned the heads of people like Loco Dice, Carl Cox and definitely myself as well. I rinsed that record all year round and their new stuff is just as strong.

Ben Remember: Toolroom fans will probably be familiar with this guy by now, but I can see him really breaking through this year. I’ve made a couple of records with him now and he’s an absolute don in the studio and I can’t wait to see what he does next.

David Jackson: At only 16, David Jackson is arguably the most exciting prospect on this list. When I was 16 I was struggling to make school let alone a decent record. I’m my opinion he’s an absolute genius with a huge future ahead of him.

Frederick & Kusse: These guys are responsible for my hands-down favourite record of 2017, ‘Ms. Jackson’ which they released on Supernova’s Lapsus Music. If I had a pound for every time I’ve played it I’d be able to take a few months off.

Illyus & Barrientos: Finishing up with another duo, Illyus & Barrientos may not be brand new, but trust me - this is the year they’re really going to pop.

Mark Knight will be taking over Egg London once again with Toolroom Live on Saturday 3rd February. Joining him on the night will be Nick Curly, Adrian Hour, Tube & Berger, Superlover and many more...
