Influences: Stiv Hey

Stiv Hey returns to our Middle Floor after a triumphant breakthrough on SCI+TEC early on in his career and has since signed with the likes of Loose Records and Tronic amongst many others.

Taking his hypnotic sound of driving basslines and surging rhythms, the Italian producer joins us off the back of a tour of India and China - a sure sign that his profile is set to grow even more throughout the year.

Joining us on 8th December alongside Paul Ritch and Bart Skils, Stiv shares five tracks which have heavily influenced his taste and approach to production from the beginning…

Radio Slave - Grindhouse (Dubfire Terror Planet Remix)

This track made my career starting back in 2009. My first club night as a raver, Sven Vath at Amnesia Milano... When he played this Dubfire Remix of Grindhouse and the bass kicked in I was feeling it so much that I started to chase that feeling, again and again… and still doing it...

Plastikman - Spastik

What to say, the classic of the classics. I listened/studied/played this track again and again in my home basement during my first djing years. Such a big inspiration and good memory of my home.

Ricardo Villalobos - Dexter

I discovered Minimal thru this track, I can never forget that morning when during a little after party at home I found it in a Youtube playlist and got so impressed by such strong combination of very few elements... The song video also really impressed me back in the days.

Joris Voorn - The Secret

When this track came out I was deep into a dark minimal sound and it was like a flash to me, I was like “wow”, this is sexy ! and I played it again and again during all my gigs in 2010.

Christian Smith & John Selway - Total Departure

Another big inspiration and a track that my neighbours would remember for sure (aha). That never-ending Sheppard tone rising and rising and rising is still resonating in my ears after being played so many times in my basement.
