Influences: OC&Verde

After a rollercoaster 12 months, the duo share their influences with us ahead of their return to the club this Friday, 20th July with Cuartero, Juliet Fox & more for Mr Afterparty’s ‘Eleventh’ takeover.

British duo OC & Verde have been one of the most talked about artists this year since being tooted as Pete Tong’s ‘New Names’ to watch in 2018. A string of releases on Truesoul, Octopus and Suara and more has catapulted the pair further into the electronic soundscape with a three track EP soon to be released on Matador’s Ruckus Label, a collaboration with Veerus on Reinier Zonneveld’s Filth On Acid imprint and an upcoming single scheduled for release on Sharam’s legendary Yoshistoshi Records.

In the midst of a heavy touring schedule, the pair are billed to play for Sharam’s event series in Ibiza this summer at Eden, as well as touring the UK and Europe including a stop off at The Beat Herder festival with Pete Tong and Patrick Topping.

Sasha - Xpander

We grew up in Blackburn were there was a massive illegal warehouse party scene in the early 90’s, we were just too young to go but they were all over the news and the flyers and mix tapes from the party’s would be brought into school by friends older brothers, Sasha used to play these party’s and he was the talk of the town, from this we became huge fans of his and when we were old enough to go out to rave he was the man we watched. Later when Xpander came out it blew us away and really made us want to start producing music.

The Prodigy - Narayan

We’re both huge fans of the Prodigy and this track is one of our favourites, the tribal vocal in it is where we got the idea for some of our tracks like Maasai and Solstice. We’ve actually done a private edit of this track that we’re gonna be playing this summer.

Slam - Postive Education

This track was one that we were desperate to get hold of back in the day when it first came out, still, play it to this day, its definitely been a big influence on us musically.

Push - Universal Nation

This track blew us away when we first heard it as kids and still does to this day, the hard kick and bass with the trip melody can be heard in the music we make now so this is definitely been a big influence for us.

Paul Ritch - Run Baby Run

This track is relatively new but blew us away when we first heard it, it’s one we have played a lot in our sets and definitely influenced us into taking our productions up a notch into the techno world.
