Egg Residents Mix 01

The Willers Brothers

The Willers Brothers are proof that hard work and determination pays off. Born in the North of England before moving to London, the siblings – Liam and Sean – first came to Egg as clubbers. Now firmly part of the club's family, they've used their position as resident DJs as a springboard for wider success, regularly playing across Europe, including Space Ibiza this summer, and releasing a string of singles, most recently on Berlin's Beste Freunde label.

We spoke to the duo to discover more about their history.

Can you remember your first time coming to Egg? What were your initial thoughts?

Liam: It was my 21st birthday and the first room we walked into was the garden, which was a beach at the time, and I thought how Egg was so different to any other venue I’d been to in London. Alex Picone was playing and if I remember we were the first ones in and the last ones out.
Sean: Not much has changed. Varon V was the resident at the time and we danced till midday to him playing.
Liam: I can honestly say that from this point I knew that I wanted to play at the club.

How did you become a resident?

Sean: In November 2012 we won a DJ competition and from that we got to play a gig in the Loft. It went well and we got invited back to play the loft again for NYE. One of the club’s promoters caught on to our sound and we started a residency for his night X. It wasn’t long until Egg invited us to become the official club residents.

How does being a resident differ from being a guest at another club?

Liam: Being a resident is like having a second home... you could even say a first home. Sean: It’s a lot more comfortable, we know the club, we know the equipment, we know the crowd, we know the staff. It has real family vibe running through it.

How would you define your current sound?

Liam: Our sound is very influenced by the French house scene, like Apollonia and John Dimas. Sean: It has definitely developed since we first started out. If I was going to sum it up in two words it would be deep and groovy.

What is your favourite room to play?

Sean & Liam: The Terrace. We love the way that room sounds and we love the booth, it really allows you to connect with the crowd.

What is your favourite Egg London memory?

Sean & Liam: NYE 2015. We were playing the countdown to midnight in the Terrace and the atmosphere was electric.
Liam: Another one was warming up for Matthias Tanzmann before his six hour set - it felt like a milestone as a resident.

What has been your stand out set at Egg so far this year?

Sean & Liam: Cinthie closing the Terrace at Berlin Berlin: The Birthday. She’s always been one of our favourite artists so we loved seeing her play at such an amazing party.
