As the drum sounds to call for celebration and the ‘Carnaval’ to begin, the first Familia of 2015 bursts its way through the myriad of Egg London’s dancefloors with unashamed exuberance. February heralds one of our favourite celebrations of the year, bringing together the most flamboyant of partygoers who revel with reckless abandon and unstoppable energy throughout this 11 hour party marathon. Headline duties fall to a duo at the heart of a burgeoning sound at the moment, Romanian duo Livio & Roby. Over the past decade the duo have notched up releases on some of the world’s most seminal labels, including Steve Lawler’s ViVa Music and Loco Dice’s Desolat. With dynamic DJ sets and innovative live performances, the pair have been instrumental to the success of the ‘Romanian’ house sound that has been so popular of late. Their sound fuses minimal elements of tech house and techno, making them a perfect choice for the Familia faithful. Getting you into the ‘Carnaval’ spirit will be the much hyped Parisian collective, Hold Youth, consisting of founders Seuil and Le Loup. With their debut album ‘De La Club’ released on their own label Hold Youth Imprint earlier this year, the duo have received wide acclaim for their versatility as producers. Their sound encompasses a nod to the classic stateside sounds of Andres, Moodymann and Theo Parrish, whilst also having the ability to transform into something darker and minimal. With so much noise in the scene surrounding the pair currently, we can’t wait to have them down. Continuing the Romanian theme will be Livio & Roby’s fellow countrymen, Rhadow. With countless releases on the likes of Cadenza, Get Physical and Sintope, the impressive young producer is carving out a stellar reputation amongst his well respected peers. His hypnotic, rhythmic and minimal sound is ideal for Egg’s Flipside System and is sure to find favour with the cosmopolitan Familia crowd. In support are the likes of Jack Wickham, who in the Summer of ‘14 had his ‘Jury Dub’ track included on Richie Hawtin’s Enter’s Compilation CD. Jack will be returning to play Familia for a second time, along with favourites Fabio Ferro, Ben Grunnell, Kyle E and the proceeding’s Promoter Nick Tcherniak amongst many more. Familia dares you to don your most outrageous ‘Carnaval’ outfit, join the international collective and be as one in what is set to be one of the most talked about fiestas of the season.
