Blurring the boundaries of nightlife to create a party playground where anything goes, Berlin Berlin runs riot whilst pioneering a strict no camera policy (adopted from Berlin) as its young, risqué underground crowd party till the sun rises. ‘What goes on in Berlin Berlin, stays in Berlin Berlin’, distilling the true essence of the city’s unique and experimental hedonistic party vibe, BB’s polysexual atmosphere explores the Berlin:London connect at its wildest...
Only eight years old, Keinemusik are one of the names put forward for Mixmag’s ‘Label Of The Decade’ poll and continue to impress with their dubby house and tech releases and all-star DJ takeover sets. Joint founder &ME is joined by the prolific Adam Port, whose latest release on the label, the ’Ganesha Song EP’, is notching up solid support. His heavy house and techno sound has also graced labels such as Rockets & Ponies, Cocoon and Pets Recordings. Completing the line up is Reznik, whose DJ tastes stretch from post-punk to techno, via house, disco, electro and everything else of note in-between.
Part of the Berlin Berlin family, Watergate resident Cinthie enjoyed a huge 2016 as label boss of Berlin imprints Beste Modus and Beste Freunde, with Ed Herbst and stevn.aint.leavn, and the Unison Wax label with Diego Krause. Returning with the full Beste Modus crew of Diego Krause, stevn.aint.leavn and Ed Herbst, BM are set to carry the swing this year with their recent ‘BesteModus 07’ release that once again raises the bar within the contemporary house scene and features two tracks from Cinthie and label co-founder stevn.aint.leavn.
As well as being a resident at Watergate, where she spins vinyl only sets, Cinthie is a true leader of the underground house scene very much at the heart of the house conversation with recent releases including the classy ‘House Rhythms’ offering on Black Key Records. Joined by stevn.aint.leavn and the hotly tipped Diego Krause, who is known for his bass-heavy, rolling sound, as sampled recently on his ‘Rituals EP’ on Unison Wax and the ’Split EP’ on Organi, Ed Herbst completes the line up.
A mainstay of Berlin’s techno scene, Jonty Skrufff heads up the Sisyphos showcase with Fidelity Kastrow and Juli. N More, and Jonty’s forthcoming tried and tested ‘Warpaint’ release is due on Egg's new label What Came First very soon. Flowing seamlessly between harder-edged techno sounds to the downright groovy, the Sisyphos team work the crowd with their weekender-style sets.
Dalston’s alternative Homostash crew, headed up by Tafkanik, join forces with fast rising LGBT friendly fashion brand Cockheart to takeover the Loft space firing up the dance floor with a mix of party house, tech and nu disco sounds. The Kunstkammer avant-garde salon of wild cabaret, peep show poses and much more, hosted by club kids Lewis G Burton and Kassandra Powell, mingles alongside and this is ‘where the wheels of Berlin Berlin truly come off’!
